How this directory works
An independent list of 68 Arizona driving schools. Here is exactly where the data comes from, what gets filtered out, and how the order is decided.
Where the data comes from
Every listing starts as a public Google Business Profile record — name, address, phone, website, hours, categories, rating and review count — collected with Outscraper and stored in a Supabase table. This build used 69 raw records refreshed on September 11, 2026.
We tidy what we can prove: tracking parameters are stripped from website links, shouting-caps names are set in normal case, and Google’s “Higley Pointe” locality is filed under Gilbert. We don’t add services, awards or descriptions a school hasn’t published.
What we leave out
A search for “driving school” pulls in the wrong things, so every record is checked before it gets a page. Records must be in Arizona, operating, and carry a driving-school signal in their Google category or name: driving school, traffic school, Traffic Survival School, defensive driving, rider training or truck driving school. Businesses whose primary category is something else entirely — a law office, a car dealer, an auto shop — are dropped even if a subcategory mentions driving.
Duplicates are merged when two records share a phone number, a street address and most of a name; the record with more reviews stays. This build kept 68 of 69 records. Excluded:

How the order works
Sorting by raw stars rewards tiny samples: a school with two five-star reviews would outrank one holding 4.9 stars across fourteen thousand. So every list uses a review-adjusted score:
score = (12 × 4.74 + reviews × rating) ÷ (12 + reviews)
4.74 is the average rating across the 65 rated schools in the directory, recalculated on every build. The 12 is how many “average” reviews each school is assumed to have before its own count in. Big records barely move; small ones are pulled toward the middle until they earn more reviews. Because Google rounds displayed ratings, we use the exact average from each school’s star breakdown for ordering.
The rating shown on cards and profiles is always Google’s rating as published. Only the order is adjusted. The 3 schools with no reviews yet sit at the bottom of each list rather than being given a guess.
Paid placement
Schools can pay for one featured slot per city. A featured school is pinned to the top of that city page with a visible “Featured” label. Paying never changes a rating, a review count, the review-adjusted score or anyone’s statewide rank, and it doesn’t affect course pages or the top-rated list. Pricing and owner FAQ.
Why there are no photos
The images you see are generated from each school’s name: a color pair, a monogram and a course icon. We don’t reuse photos from Google profiles, which belong to the schools, their photographers or reviewers, and we won’t use stock photos that could be mistaken for a real school’s building or cars. Owners who claim a listing can add a photo of their own.
What this site is not
Nothing here is legal advice. Whether a court will dismiss a ticket after a defensive driving class, whether you must attend Traffic Survival School, and whether a school holds the licenses it needs are all decided by Arizona courts and ADOT’s Motor Vehicle Division. A listing — featured or not — is not an endorsement and not proof of licensing. Check with the court or MVD before you pay.
